Dancing Into Motion
Our original program, Dancing Into Motion, teaches basic physics concepts (force and motion) to elementary school children through a series of workshops performed in the schools themselves.
DIM is a series of 45-50 minute workshops featuring a Scientist, an Artist and 4 Dancers from the Austin dance community. In the workshop the students will learn the basic physics concepts of force and motion. The curriculum used in the workshop is derived directly from the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills requirements and has also been adapted to fit the Common Core Curriculum.
During the Dancing Into Motion workshops, the scientist teaches the lesson, the students see the dancers demonstrate the material, then the students participate in dance activities reinforcing the lesson.
After all, dance is all force and motion!
We have been working in elementary schools in the Austin area for over 3 years, including, but not limited to, Round Rock ISD, Lake Travis ISD and Austin ISD.
